United Airlines, the launch customer of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, will fly the aircraft on routes between Los Angeles International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport from 29 March next year. In the early stages, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will fly to Shanghai four times a week, while three flights a week will still be operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
Subsequently, on May 8, 2014, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flight will be used to serve the Los Angeles-Shanghai Pudong every day, replacing the role of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner fully previously used to serve the route. The Los Angeles-Shanghai route is for the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner both belonging to United Airlines, while the first aircraft that will be served are Los Angeles-Melbourne operated on October 26, 2014.
